When The World Shakes

"The things that can be shaken - meaning, created things - will be removed, so that what cannot be shaken will remain." (Hebrews 12:27)

Our external world shakes with disaster to make us serious about finding what is immovable within. When the world trembles to the point that we have nothing to stand on, no possessions left, and even the body may pass away, will we be capable of resting in the heart, where there stillness, radiance and unshakable beauty? All spiritual practice is but a rehearsal for that moment.

As Jesus taught, When you see the abomination of desolation... stand in the holy place. (Mat 24:15; King James translation) The abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the Prophet, refers to the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. Jesus' listeners knew this. So his statement would drive them deeper within to inquire, "How can we stand in the holy place if the holy place is destroyed?"

Jesus clearly means that our safety and salvation lies not in any external church or ashram or institution, nor in a bomb shelter or a survivalist training camp for well-armed Christian patriots. When the world shakes and great changes are upon us, our only rest is in the heart, the stillness at the center of the soul. There, whether the body survives or not, we will step through a portal of pure consciousness into the realm of divine light. For the kingdom of God is within you. (Luke 17:21)

I speak not in symbols. I speak of a coming historical event.
